The poem still matters greatly. And I try to convey a lot of how I try to portray cartoon characters in my fiction based on the first two lines, because I believe sometimes it applies to them as well.
I walked to school today with an eight year old boy who lives in New England. He was wearing a poppy on his jacket and a poppy on his shirt. It was officially Veterans Day but he knows Veterans Day and Remembrance Day aren’t quite the same, and he was making sure he understood what the ‘lest’ in the ‘Lest We Forget’ banner under his poppy meant.

Those living today owe there existence and freedom to those brave souls that fought for us in two world wars!
Both of my grandfathers were US soldiers in WWI. My father, all of my uncles, and their cousins were soldiers in WWII.
Please pardon my horrible error. I wrote this fast, from the heart, but too fast.
Those living today owe THEIR existence and freedom to those brave souls that fought for us in two world wars!
Beautiful

It is good to remember David.

Lie With You
https://youtu.be/guw94HpfWkg?si=XLXmvEtB-0DnXNAD
I will lie with you by the river
By the willow and the soft sweet grass
I will lie with you beneath the starlight
And the night to day will pass
In my dream you're by the doorway
I can see your trembling hand
On the floor lies a letter
From a far and foreign land
I will lie with you by the river
By the willow and the soft sweet grass
I will lie with you beneath the starlight
And the night to day will pass
In my dream I'm in a valley
And the stars burst fearful bright
And a red pool seeps beneath me
And I fall into the night
I will lie with you by the river
By the willow and the soft sweet grass
I will lie with you beneath the starlight
And the night to day will pass
I will love you now forever
I will always hold you dear
Every breeze that cools your body
Will whisper "I am near."
I will meet you by the river
When you are leave to come
I will lie with you forever
As the earth and grass are one.
I will lie with you by the river
By the willow and the soft sweet grass
I will lie with you beneath the starlight
And the days to years will pass
you for all.
Be well.
Thank you for all.
Well chosen words.
Beautiful yet none of them asked to be spared old age. Thank you for this.
Therein lies the melancholy of the poem.
Yes.
So beautiful. Thank you David
