I have read that the faerie folk of folk myth, legend, etc. that this is based on were actually considered to be the LOWEST FORM OF VERMIN, rather than mostly stalwart, helpful, dependable creatures, & elves were DISGUSTING SLOBS at best. Exactly how this data came to be garnered is anyone's guess.
I have a great deal of respect for any author who can write with such wit, care and authority on a subject of this magnitude. David is to be thoroughly commended. Respect, Maurice
I have been reading ETA Hoffman fables lately which mix humans with fairies and your Toon riots certainly tell a grisly and under recognized story of antagonism.
David- This is an insightful read. Firstly, I didn't know about this bit about Toontown. Secondly, the concept of pairing destruction with what is typically the delightful category of 'toon' is brilliant to the nines. I think tragedy and comedy has always paired well together, when done right, almost in a Shakespearean way. And your piece here is a true echo of this principle. Happy holidays and happy New Year! Cheers, -Thalia

How apropo! I wrote several science fiction stories dealing with cartoon characters coexisting in the same universe!
